Where I Live: My name is Vera. I am a California native (born in Merced) and have had the opportunity to have lived in a few different cities. Some of the place I have called home are Incline Village, Nevada (borders Lake Tahoe), Pearl City, Hawaii on the Island of Oahu, Concord, California which is about 30 miles East of San Francisco, and Watsonville, CA which is about 18 miles South of Santa Cruz. Currently, I live in Los Angeles County. My Family: I have two great grown kids, both still single, who have been brought up using computers. My Son, Louie now maintains our home UNIX system. We hope to set it up to host our web sites in the near future. My daughter, Gina has her own message board site. The only one not interested in computers is my husband Les, but I did get my my 76 year old mother and 82 year old mother-in-law excited when I set each one of them up with their own system. The spare parts that I accumulated during all my upgrades did not go to waste. My Cats: Yea, I'm one of those cat lovers. Been wanting a small dog, but somehow always end up with cats - three to be exact - though one belongs to my daughter. BB is my 5 year old cat, then there is Tails (who by the way doesn't have one), he is 3. Last but not least is Jack, our 2 year old - also called "The Little Boy". See my photos of them "The Kids". PC Background: Fell in love with computer when my sister purchased her Apple II and I was introduced to Scott Adams Adventure games. Gee, maybe I'm giving away my age. Oh, and by the way, since then, my sister has given me her old Apple II. Wrote my first program in Basic for a Commodore computer way back when the VIC 20 had only 5k of RAM. Since then, I have worked my way up to a 800mhz computer with 512mb of RAM with an GeForce 64mb video card. Though I did some Visual Basic programming for MS Access, I really got interested in Web graphics and HTML only about 3 1/2 years ago while looking for some backgrounds for a friend. I've been hooked ever since. Programs I Use: One of my vices is buying too many programs. I generally use Photoshop 6 for most of my work, but do own Paintshop 7. And now that I have started doing animated signatures, Animation Shop is high on the list of my favorites. Also love and use many filters and plug-ins. Even though I do have Kai Power Tools Classic, KPT 3, 5, and 6, my favorites plugins are Ulead SmartSaver and Extensis PhotoTools. Also in my collection are many 3D programs, Html editors, and misc. utilities. Most of these web pages were created using HotDog Pro 6.5. |
