Several different programs can be used to create an Html document. These programs include a plain text editor such as Windows Notepad and MS Word or you can purchase an Html editor such as HotMetal Pro, HotDog Pro, or HomeSite. One of the advantages of an Html editor over a plain text editor is that most of these programs have tag coloring to help distinguish tags from your content as well as other useful features.

Some editors are WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get). These type of programs; like Netscape Composer, MS FrontPage, and Adobe GoLive; keep the Html tags hidden. Some WYSIWYG programs do not always render the page 100% (as displayed on a browser).

Use whatever program you are most comfortable with. Many people start with Windows Notepad or some other freeware/shareware program and later upgrade to a full featured Html editor.
